Abstract

This research sets out to profile the domestic wastewater produced at the study site, quantify the discharge generated by the surrounding community, and develop an appropriate Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), named Si Aka, that fits actual field conditions while meeting the applicable regulatory standards. The assessment covers physical, chemical, and biological parameters that together define the pollution level and the resulting treatment burden. Discharge figures are then used to size the principal WWTP components, namely the sedimentation basin, the aerobic–anaerobic bioreactor, the disinfection chamber, and the sludge-holding unit. Findings show that the proposed WWTP configuration is capable of raising treatment performance and lowering the risk of environmental pollution through suitable engineering measures. The design is put forward as a viable, decentralized option for treating domestic wastewater in residential neighborhoods.
