Implementation of A Digital Warehouse and Inventory Management System to Support Stock Management Effectiveness in the Freshmart Retail Business Simulation
Main Article Content
Abstract
Digital transformation has accelerated the adoption of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Inventory Management Systems (IMS) as effective solutions for improving inventory management in retail businesses. This study aims to analyze the implementation of a digital Warehouse and Inventory Management System and evaluate its contribution to stock management effectiveness in the FreshMart retail business simulation. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through an operational simulation using a ready-to-use Warehouse and Inventory Management application. Data were collected through observations of application usage, documentation of simulation results, and evaluation of system implementation in inventory recording, supplier management, stock monitoring, inbound and outbound inventory transactions, as well as low-stock and expired-item monitoring. The results indicate that the system successfully integrates operational data into a single platform, enhances real-time inventory visibility, simplifies stock monitoring, supports reorder decision-making, and reduces administrative errors compared to manual recording methods. However, because data entry is still performed manually, the potential for human error has not been completely eliminated. This study concludes that a ready-to-use Warehouse and Inventory Management application provides a practical and cost-effective digital logistics solution for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and small-to-medium retail businesses. Nevertheless, further development of automation features is necessary to improve data accuracy and operational effectiveness.
