This issue of JESCEE (Vol. 1 No. 2, 2022) features a collection of studies addressing key challenges and methodologies in logistics, inventory control, process engineering, cost management, and industrial safety. Highlights include:
- Production Planning in Logistics Systems: An application of integrated production planning techniques (Forecasting, RCCP, MRP, CRP, Line Balancing) to optimize the production of a wind turbine toy, identifying cost-effective lot-sizing (LTC method) and efficient line balancing strategies (Region Approach).
- Inventory Control for Flowline Pipes: An analysis addressing stock-out issues for flowline pipes at PT. Pertamina Hulu Rokan Field Limau, utilizing ARIMA forecasting and ADI-CV analysis to determine a smooth demand pattern and proposing a continuous review inventory policy that yields significant cost savings.
- Wastewater Dechlorination Study: An investigation into the efficiency and reaction kinetics of using sodium thiosulfate for dechlorinating Nata De Coco wastewater, finding optimal dosage (2x stoichiometry) and determining the reaction follows first-order kinetics.
- Activity-Based Costing in Production: A comparative analysis of production costs at the PTPN VII Gunung Dempo tea packaging station using the Activity-Based Costing (ABC) method versus the traditional system, revealing that the traditional method overstated costs and recommending the adoption of ABC.
- Risk Assessment for Safety Devices: A quantitative Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) assessment based on API RP 581 standards applied to a Pressure Relief Device (PRD) at PT. Z, determining the risk level (Medium) and recommending appropriate inspection intervals and methods.
This volume contributes practical insights and analytical approaches relevant to improving efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness in various industrial and process engineering contexts.
